- Mimmi
After a tense argument and at least 2-3 tries using the same technique over-and-over, Zac decided to call it quits. The sign was by him lowering his right arm back to his side
“I’m sorry.” He apologies looking up at me.
I threw a cold look at him.
“That’s all you can say “I’m sorry”….my only best friend is missing and that all you can say?!” I yelled.
“Look what else can I do to make it up to you?! Because I don’t see how I’m ever gonna ‘magically’ bring a mermaid in land-form, back from the unknown.” He protested coming around the trident stone.
“Really? A mere Half-breed can’t even conjure a movement of a stupid symbol-“
“Hey, as I said before, I don’t even know this place or what these symbols mean.” he cut me off.
“Oh really?! Look who insisted we come here.”
“And I also recall not inviting you to come…..remember and yet, Miss attitude Ondina-
“Hey! She said you’re a threat and we came to deal with it…namely you.

Ladies, Ladies….your both pretty – Mer
….Oh, it’s you….what do you want? *attitude* - me
*sigh* look wouldn’t you like to see Ondina rather than fighting this merman?
Duh? But he’s a quitter.
I wouldn’t be so sure…

“Mimmi, hey Mimmi….you still with me?” I could hear Zac’s voice.
I mentally shook my head.
“Yeah, my mind was in another place.”
“That’s okay….i was just suggesting that we should tell Sirena the news.” He said in a doubtful tone.
I nodded to his suggestion with my voice in the same tone as his.
“Sure.” Was all I said.
We then turned tail and made a bolt for the exit, as I doubt the Moon Ring could hold open the cave for this long. When we made it to the exit we found Sirena still there.
“Well?” she began as she turned to us closing over the tunnel entrance.
I saw Zac shrugging his shoulders.
“It didn’t work.” He confessed.
“So, that’s it, she’s gone.” I sighed trying to hold in my tears.
Zac looked to me.
“Don’t give up….Rita might have an idea.” Zac suggested.
I was now feeling the tears weld up in my eyes.
“Ondina.” Sirena spoke up.

I turned to see Ondina walking towards us…suddenly my tears turned to a smile. I went over and hugged the day light out of her.
“Where were you?” I asked.
“Asleep in the jungle, apparently.” She answered. “That new boy from the café found me.”
“Erik?” Zac spoke up.
I could see Ondina giving Zac the cold-mean look.
“You lied to us, you said you didn’t know what this place was.” She stated.
“I don’t.” he protested. “Wh-what happened to you was an accident.”
“Sure.” She huffed.
“No, it really was.” I defended him.
We all were silent…but something spiked our attention to our surroundings, it felt like as if someone or something was watching us.
“We need to go.” Zac spoke up.
“We sure do…and don’t you even think about coming back.” Ondina stated as she and I began the journey back to the beach.
I then slung my arm her shoulder.
“I’m so glad you’re okay.” I whispered. “What exactly happened to you after you vanished?”
Ondina paused as we kept on walking.
“To be honest I don’t know…all I remember is walking forward to stop Zac; then next thing I knew I was waking up in the jungle with that ‘Erik’ boy overlooking me.”
“Did you ask him what he was doing on Mako?”
“Yeah, he said he was checking this place out…but, I still think there more to that story.”
“You think? Or could it be you’re still half-asleep.”
I could see Ondina ruffling her finger through her hair.
“Yeah maybe….but in future, we need to keep a tight guard on this boy. With the seventh cycle still underway, he’s still unpredictable.”

- Erik

I saw the whole ordeal; so all three of them are in on this secret. And the mystery deeps, the girls left Zac alone as he watched them leave, but he stayed behind for a while and then turned to look at a rock face covered in vines. Then after a while, he then he left catching up with his companions.
‘So the plot thickens.’ I thought.
As soon as they were a good distance away from the rock face, I emerged from my hiding spot…..from amongst the thick brush trees near the rock face.
“What is it that makes this place, so interesting? That 4 people would check it out together?” I asked myself.
I then began pacing around, went right up to the rock face and placed my hand against the rock face….closed my eyes; this place (I could feel a strong connection)…it feels something familiar-

My though moment was interrupted by my phone ringing. I fished my phone out of my back pocket and saw ‘BOSS’ on the screen.
‘Dam it, I completely forgot.’ I thought as I pressed the answer button.

“Hey, David.” I answered as casually as I could.
“Erik, where are you? I gave you at least 3.5 hours off….I’m just ringing to let you know, that you’re due back around now." He stated.
“Yeah, sorry about that….my personal stuff totally overtook my thoughts and I completely forgot. But I’m on my way back right now.” I lied as even though most of it was true.
I could hear Dave sigh on the other end.
“Fine, just so you know I’m dock a small portion of your pay.”
I laughed.
“Sounds fair….I’ll see you when I get back; and I’ll make do on my promise.” I smirked.
“You better….see you when you here.”
“Sure, later.”

I hung up my phone, shoved it my back pocket. I turned to leave on, taking a few paces before looking back at the rock face…
‘I’ll be back.’ I thought before sprinting to the ocean.
When I reached the ocean I took my method I did before back to Ocean’s. Here’s hoping that David had not taken ‘that’ much off my pay was taken as this job is my only means to support myself in the Gold Coast. And I have every intention of keeping it….though my distraction of the ocean and now of Mako Island. I still won’t let them hold me back of keeping this line of work.

When I did finally get back to Ocean’s I immediately apologies to David for my tardiness. Dave for some reason was really forgiving.
“Just next time….keep a watch or a timer on you.” He joked.
I smirked.
“Sure…so what’s the next order of business?” I quizzed him as I pocket the IPad mini (used or taking orders).
“Well, Carly is on her break and Evie is about to finish up in about 2 hours….so could you mind holding the fort while I take this outside to Cam.” He announced.
This struck a chord with me…this was the perfect time to talk about Mako island.
“Ah…why don’t you? Since we’ve got a backlog of orders…and I still am pretty slow when it comes to the ‘Juicer’…” I tried to plant this suggestion in his head.
“No, I can….you can-“
“Please, Dave…..you’ve seen me I’m much faster when it comes to a delivery to tables.” I plead.
Dave rolled his head.
“Fine, but please make it quick.” He surrendered.
‘Score: hock, line and sinker.’ I thought.

I then walked around to the front of the bench, seeing the paper label receipt: a chicken burger with the beetroot and tomato’s taken off.
‘I guess he’s not really a health nut…unlike I’ve seen Zac and all his seafood consumption.’ I thought as I placed the order on a black serving tray.
I then did a quick walk out the front door; I did a brief look to see Cam relaxing out near the edge of the boardwalk.   I walked calmly up to him, fishing the plate of the chicken burger of my serving tray and placed it right on the table in front of him.
“Thanks.” He said as soon as I placed it down and removed my hand away.
I then looked around, since there was not a lot of orders to place….i decided to pop the question I had swelling in my brain since coming back from Mako.
“For a place that no one goes to, Mako gets pretty busy.” I stated.
Cam didn’t really seem to shift in his seat…he had a calm look in his face as he looked up at me.
“I saw Zac and those 3 other girls there.” I continued.
“You went to Mako?” he spoke up.
I was silent, I had my own reasons for going as with the island…but then the other thing of that bright light; I could ask him of what that meant to him.
“I saw this weird light…” I concluded.
Cam then looked down at his meal.
“The jungle is like that; you see something strange, then it turns out to be a reflection or something.” He was clearly lying.
Cause as soon as I saw that light I saw that chick from here lying sort of conscious.
“Do you know what they’re doing?” I popped another question.
Cam once again was silent before answering.
“You’d have to ask them.” He answered….either he does clearly know or they’re keeping something from him as well.
I shrugged my shoulder a bit.
“Maybe I will.” I challenged. “Enjoy your burger.”
I then walked around the table and head back inside. Walking straight up to the counter, with a line of orders coming straight from the kitchen….ready and waiting to be served out.
I sighed, the price of distraction. I sucked my gut in as I approached the counter and looked on the paper receipt as to which table the orders needed to go to.
“Just another busy afternoon at Ocean’s.” I mumbled quietly to myself.

- Zac

After that whole fiasco on Mako, the trip home was very quiet…only Sirena speaking to me, quizzing about what the chamber was like and what exactly happened to Ondina when I ‘made’ her disappear.
I did try to answer her as truthfully as I could….leaving some minor details of the stuff that wasn’t important, like how I found a new species of snake a blue colour (like my tail); try but it turned out to be a left-over fish head with the spin still attached….gross.
“Sounds like you had a bit of run in.” she lipped in comfort.
“Yeah, try convincing Ondina about her saying that I made her disappear on purpose.” I groaned back to her.
I could her Sirena smirking.
“Don’t worry; she’s like another Nixie or Layla….tough nuts to creak’s.” she laughed.
I giggled a bit too.
“Yeah, and boy were they tough to creak….took them at least for me to destroy the trident, just to warm up in a friendship manner.” I sighed.
“True….but at least you’ve got a friend in me.” She smiled.
I smiled back to her.
“Seriously, Sirena? How do you know of how to make a person smile?” I quizzed her in a tease.
She shrugged her shoulder s as she charged on ahead; I just hung back as I took the turn back to my place.

When I did finally get back home; after drying my tail down on the jetty….then on arriving to my room to hear the sound of my phone ringing from my desk. I sighed as I walked over the desk and pressed the answer call.

“Hello?” I answered
“Hey Babe, its Evie.” She answered
“Oh, hey Evie…what’s up?”
“I heard from Sirena about what happened on Mako? Do….do you feel like talking about it?” She asked in the sweetest tone ever.
I sigh….that didn’t take her long enough to spill the beans to Evie.
“Just out of curiosity, how did she contact you about it?”
“Well odd thing, via my mobile phone….interesting that she knows how to operate a phone now.” She teased.
“True…I’m willing to bet either Miss Santos or Dave helped her out. Although, it might of be impossible with David as with it risking her blowing her secret.”
“Another strike….man your good at detective work, how did you figure it out?
I smirked….time to lighten myself up.
“Elementary, Miss McLaren…when I was talking with most of them a few months back, when of course I didn’t know they were mermaids; I almost could hear everytime Rita’s voice in the background….so in conclusion; Rita had been teaching those girls (meaning Nixie, Layla and Sirena…before they were separated from the Mako pod).”
“Brilliant deduction….so off topic, do you want to talk about the whole ordeal at your house?” she got back on topic.
I took a pace around my room and looked through my windows to see the sun in the beginnings of setting.
“It looks a bit late for that…but since you live close; sure, you can come.” I smirked.
I could hear Evie laughing
“Thanks, be there in 10.” She laughed and then hung up.

I smirked as I lowered my phone; she and Sirena are alike as they really know of how to make a persona smile, especially me.

-10 min later-
I heard a knock at the door, I got up and greeted her at the door, to where I let her inside, and she greeted me with a smile as I then directed her to my couch. To which I let her sit first before taking my spot right next to her.
“So do you wanna tell me everything?” she quizzed.
I sighed.
“Well at first I had this vision through Sirena’s moon ring…as we though we may as well have a preview of what I’m gonna be like or see during the next full moon-“ I began.
“Wait, wait….how do you know about using the ring?” she quizzed.
I paused for a moment.
“To honest I don’t know….the idea suddenly came into mind, I don’t where from though….but it was like a whisper into my ear.” I explained leaning back into the couch. “Like something from a dream.
“But hadn’t you been saying that in your dreams you’ve been seeing a mermaid…and saying that it felt somehow familiar?” She remarked as she got up out of the couch and walked over to the fridge to get us a cold drink of cordial.
She did have a point, I was now wondering if the suggestion of me using the Moon Ring came from that mermaid…like she was with me in spirit and whispered it to my ears. But it’s not like I know any mermaid personally of any sorts.

I then went back on topic and shared the rest of the day’s events….doing so caused me to become convinced of what Ondina had been sprouting about me.
“True….but how do you explain to her that it wasn’t my fault? I clearly explained to her that I have no idea of what that place is or what could I do.” I protested leaning forward, placing my elbows on my legs.
Evie came back with the drinks and placed them in front of us as she sat back down beside me.
“What happened with Ondina wasn’t you fault.” She stated.
“Yeah, well try telling her that.” I sighed. “She convinced I’m public enemy number one to mermaids…and finding that merman chamber only made things worse.”
Silence hung in the air….as I guess she was trying to process the events from today.
“What do you think it’s for?” she quizzed in a worried quiet tone.
I shook my head.
“I don’t know…but I have a feeling that it’s somehow connected to my powers.” I explained in deep thought. “I don’t know how, but I just have this feeling that it is.”
I could feel Evie’s hand slipping into my own.

“Whatever is going on over there…forget about it.” She whispered.
‘Forget about….how could I possibly forget about that chamber? It holds something of significants.’ I thought.
“I don’t want you going back.” She continued.
I sighed under my breath.
“I’m sorry, Evie. But I have to….there’s power in that place and somehow I’m connected to it.” I stated starring towards the door.
Evie then slipped her hand out from my grasp.
“Really? You want to go back to a chamber, to which we almost lost someone.” She stated turning towards me. “Do you even hear yourself? Sure it’s a new experience…but think back to what happened last time you found a new place? ….you forts over it with Cam like little children; and then I almost drowned.”
I leant back into the couch.
“Evie, this important…I can’t even describe the power or the way it responded to when I entered in. It’s an untold place and as I said before….it somehow it’s connected to me; and I’m not gonna let anything stop me from knowing why.” I stated as I slowly sat up right.
Evie snorted.
“Really? It’s like when I say one thing is wrong, you go in the compete opposite direction…but I guess that’s to be expected since you’re a boy by nature.” She teased.
“And I’m proud to be born one.” I smirked striking pose like a super-hero.
But It was still bugging me, of why? Why is that place calling to me and only me….or unless….unless they’re something else deeper; much deeper than either of us knew?
The finishing of episode 3....now things get more interesting Evil Onion
