Mako Mermaids S2 - Character's Story - Chapter 37

Another flash, just like that one from last time…like the one that Zac volunteered for with Sirena using her Moon ring. Very in depth vision; but this was very vague vision: all I could make out was that Zac was going to that Chamber again…but that can’t be right, the last time the only way in was the Moon Rin-.
Oh right, the Full Moon acts like a Moon Ring; so was that flash a vision of the near coming events? Or happening right and now?
Either way this doesn’t bold our favour….
“Mimmi?” I heard a voice.
“Huh?” I answered still completely zoned out.
“You wanted the red?” I could hear Carly’s voice and vaguely seeing her holding out a vial bottle of blood red colour in front of me.
I didn’t answer her as I was still in my daze like state.
“Mimmi?” I heard Sirena’s voice.
Silence hung in the air, all I could here was crickets in the background chirping through the night….yeah I could still hear them even with the curtains drawn close and windows.
“…Umm; back in a sec.” I explained as I got up from the couch and headed to the other room.

I was pacing a bit until I leant on the kitchen table.
“Hey what happened?” Ondina asked concerned following me into the kitchen.
I leant further into the table…trying to make sense of it and trying to place it into words, she could understand.
“I had a flash; of Mako.” I confessed.
Ondina’s eyes widened.
“Some sort of vision.” I continued.
“Something is going on.” Ondina looked concerned as I guess her feelings of Zac being up-to-no good was coming true. “We have to get to the Moon Pool, before Zac does.”
I nodded.
“Yeah…. (then looking over to the rest of the people still sitting on the couch doing their nails), but what about them?” I nodded my head towards the others.
“…think of something.” Ondina urged.
“Like what?” I quizzed.
Ondina threw her hands up. “I don’t know…just find a way for us to get out of here.”
I was now deep in my thoughts, very deep in thought.

Think too much your brain is gonna burst – Mer
…then what do you suggest?
Hmm, why don’t you use that sick excuse that Sirena used before? Say that you caught it from Evie.
You think that could work?
…worth a shot.

Then made my way with Ondina to the back door, slowly….as I started to pretend coughing like Evie did.
“Something wrong?” Carly pipped in
“…Yeah I think I may have caught that cold from Evie.” I lied through the skin of my teeth as I held open a chink of the curtain so I could open the back door.
“Really? … (The turns to Ondina who’s not following through with her fake cough) how come you’re not sick?” Carly questioned her.
Ondina turned to Sirena who urged her to answer.
“I-‘m going to be escorting her outside….as the fresh air will do her good.” Ondina explained as she then quickly opened the back door.
But Sirena quickly came to our side as soon as Ondina slid open the door.

I looked over my shoulder to see Zac just standing there in the distance, have all attention towards the Full Moon shining above. I got up from the camp chair and ventured over to see if he was alright.
“Zac?” I questioned
But I got no response; I waved my hand in front of his face….not even an eye lash battered. Weird, so this must be what it’s like to be under the Moon Spell? In a zombie like daze? Unware of people or what’s going on around you? ….thank goodness that pure merman seems to not have an effect by the Moon; it must only be those who live around Mako or those cursed by (like Zac and…..Evie).

“What’s that constellation up there Dr. B.” I heard Cam’s voice.
Just then Zac walked off, still in his daze like state.
“Zac?” I asked him.
Still no response, I quickly turned to Cam who was keeping Dr. B occupied from his son being under the Moon Spell. Then Cam jestered a hand signal: for me to follow him. I didn’t argue there as I quickly followed Zac into the jungle, but keeping myself a safe distance from him….as I was scared of what might or how he’ll react if and when he realises that someone is following him.
Question is where is he heading to? And is it the moon drawing him to a certain location or is there another power at work?

We quickly opened up the back door and made our escape; I could hear another set of footsteps as we steps onto the grass area.
“Wait!” I could hear Sirena’s voice crying out.
We both turned to her.
“What about Evie?” she panicked.
“If you’re so worried then stay with her.” Ondina snapped
“You can’t leave me on my own.” She panicked every further.
“…You’ve got Carly.” I pointed out.

Then we made a breaking dash towards the river, quickly dived in, once our tails had formed and then kicked them into overdrive as we sped our way towards Mako at top Speed. Dashing passed sleeping animals: Sharks, dolphins, Sting-rays, etc. Not really giving a second look back as our only goal in mind (well more like Ondina’s goal) was to be at the Moon Pool before Zac makes his entrance.
But I was having second flash backs to my vision, it was telling me a completely different story: Zac walking into the darkness of the chamber we found. But does that mean that Zac is gonna be at the chamber instead of the Moon Pool…how could I get all of that from a single flash?
Was it a glimpse into what is gonna happen to him tonight? As a sort of warning sign or a need of help?
Either way; I/we needed to find out the truth about this flash and I needed to find it out now!!!

Mer anytime you would like to butt in, now would be a good time – Human
….

Mer was in my arms still on the island surround by clear white waters; his tail was still giving off mini twitches which were good sign of him being alive. I snapped my fingers in front of his face a couple of times, his eye lashes battered
But still no response.

Come on Mer I really need you….YOU NEED TO SNAP OUT OF IT!!! – Human
….Zac? – Mer
*sigh* you’re alright!
I think so, sorry my mind somewhere else….all I remember is trying a re-takeover of your body, then being thrown back to you and then….nothing.
You must have blacked out. You okay now?
Yeah (I lowered him into the clear white water) it’s just I…
It’s alright; it wasn’t your fault…Lets work together to see if we can regain control of my body?
*nods* yeah.

Mer then opens his hand as he helps me into the white water…I wait to see if my tail would form (as it usually does). But this time nothing, I have my normal human legs to swim with.
“Feels weird.” I commented as I speak normally to Mer (instead of the usual mind-link)… (Note: but in here my voice seems slightly echo’s in here).
“Yeah, usual you’d be like this.” Poking his tail fin out of the water.
I hold on to the edge of the island (as it doesn’t sink into the water, instead it floats like a boat).
“So where to now?” I asked him looking around as the only thing I could see was the island right in front of me and miles and miles of nothing by white clear water.
“I’d say we try and find the edge of this water…as there always is one.” Mer suggests.
I shrug off sounds plausible, so I let go of the island and began breast stroking as I follow Mer. (since I don’t want to touch my face, in case this stuff actually does anything to me).
But Mer just dives right underneath and starts swimming around me like shark. Then pop’s up right beside me.
“The water’s fine…” he comments.

-Outside my mind-
I move like a moth to a flame, still in my zombie like state; walking across jungle land….only hearing the sound’s of: cockatoo’s muttering in their sleep, crickets’ chirping through the night, etc.
It was a wonder at night, and only the slight light of fireflies lighting my path.
Which Path was it to lead to? That part only scares me the most.

Zac has made no other movements then following a flattening road, thought at most of the times it looks like he’s gonna tripping over and landing face first on to the ground, his legs as if automatically a robot right over the fallen debre.
I stop myself for a moment; this is completely nuts as with me full on witnessing the full power of this island Moon Spell…other places I’ve visited, all the other mermaids have only had as slight effect on their young; while the adults of the pod are able to keep a cool head during the whole ordeal.

The mystery further deepens….Mako; I told you that I would uncover your hidden jewels. Now this Moon Spell that Zac is under proves that you have something worth hiding. By why have you chosen a land-boy of all people? Is he someone special in defending your boarders? Or protecting the marina life that inhabits your waters? ….or maybe it has something to do with that incident 4 months ago?
I heard through the grape vine, both through mer-speech and talking one-on-one with marine life that a sudden surge of raw power coursed its way through the ocean’s….around a 10 kilometre radios, and all those affect had a pre-memory blackout for some unknown reason.

What had caused this phenome? And is that surge of power able to be harnessed for the greater good?

-Inside my mind-

Mer and I were still swimming in the white water….and to this point my legs were tiring out, they were feeling like jellyfish.
“Who knew that being without a tail is exhausting?” I panted.
Mer smirked. “So use to having me around, aren’t you?”
“You mean, of me have a fish tail? Then yeah.”
Mer sighed as he took hold of my shoulder… “Why don’t you head back to the island and see if you can figure another way out of this mess….while I take a dive, sound doable?”
I moaned, guess i have no a choice in the matter; as in this world (more like in my mind) I’m normal land-person with no powers in play. So I nodded my head in agreement and turned to swim back where I came…since we’ve been swimming in a straight line for the past 20mins.

Once I got back to the island, I just laid there on my back trying to catch my breath…before I could even think straight. I was breathing pretty heavy; considering the distance I travelled with legs.
And then once I was calmed back to normal, I sat up and then took a climb up the cave which is around the size of my bedroom (big enough for at least a small sleepover party)…almost an exact replica of it, except made of solid rocks and stone.
Anyway, when it made it to the top of the island; it was view like any other….of course by that I mean nothing, literally nothing, besides from a pure white void; filled with nothing by clear white water. Just then Mer popped up, gave myself a bit of a shock as if fell off the top (that’s when he yelled my name up to me). Of course I fell right into the water, and then dragged ashore by Mer.

“You okay?” he asked.
“Yeah, you just scared me…that’s all.” I panted. “…did you see anything?”
Mer lowered his head and shook it. “No….from what I can gather it’s like a void of nothingness.”
‘Yeah I gathered that much.’ I sighed.
“So is there anyway of escaping?” I asked the obvious question.
Mer shook his head again. “Doesn’t look like it…all we can do is wait it out until the Moon passes over.”
“But…But that’s hours away.” I groaned. “We don’t have time for that….my body is being taken over by a hostile force. And doing who knows what with it?”
“Are you sure?” Mer raised an eyebrow.
I then looked up from the island….and could see a projected large screen image of what my body was doing (like looking through my own pair of eyes…..just like the movie Inside Out).
“Fine…” I stumped my bottom on the island. “But if my body does anything dangerous….I’m gonna need you to help me take over my body?”
“….remember last time that happened? I blacked out.” He reminded me.
I sighed. “Yes I remember…but I worse come to worse; I’ll risk my life as well.”

-Outside my mind-

My body was still walking like a zombie….boring. No, were stopping (finally). But then now I wish I hadn’t stopped as when I got a good look at the place we’ve stopped it was that cave me and the mergirls had found weeks earlier.
But lucky thing the front door wasn’t open, as with the moon not being in position over the top of the volcano/moon pool. I was standing in front of the entrance, like waiting in line for a concert (when their already sold out). Just then a glimmer of the moon’s rays touched my face as I could feel another wave of strong raw power pulling at my stomach like string.
Just then the entrance melted away into the sides of the entrance….and I can say without any hesitation I ventured inside the tunnel, it was a short entrance only having one slight left handed turn and then coming face-to-face with the dark vale that concealed the rest of the chamber. My body for some reason stopped right in front of the darkness for about 5 secs and then continued on like nothing had happened, yet.

With Zac still in his zombie like daze and now just entering into a new part of what seems to be like a chamber, of some sorts. But the weird thing is, ever since I’ve entered this place…I’ve been feeling the same type of raw power surge (just like the marine life had experience over 4 months ago), coming off as waves from the ocean.
I dared followed Zac further into the chamber (I think); a small blue light was coming into view, it got bigger and bigger as we were walking towards it. I had to blink and pinch myself (mentally) to see if I was under the Moon Spell as well; turns out not to be true. This place was huge: defiantly a chamber it had columns as I could see there was a lot more and they were all the same shape but aligned in a circle they were more like thin columns bending inwards, all glowing the same colour as the trident and standing up like a stilts but bending inwards.

It was freaky, as I saw Zac venture around a symbol on the floor…I looked down to see a trident symbol embedded/carved into the ground with also a carved circle encasing it. Over the other side I could see Zac going behind a pedestal made of stone….what was he up to?
