- Evie
I could feel something wasn’t right, not with me having a mer-tail…but it was like someone or something was messing with my tail, like trying to pull at my very being.
‘What the-?’I thought, but before it is could be answered.
I felt my being glow for a brief moment and then I looked at my chest to see my top I had on before was there….but my tail was still there.
I was just as shocked as my boyfriend was, as I looked up at him.
“Zac, do something.” I pleaded.
Zac did nothing as he was just as shell shocked.
“I…Close your eyes.” He commanded.
I then squinted them closed and hopped for the best.

- Zac

As I saw Evie closing her eyes and squeezing them close, I’m guessing wishing on a limb that I could make her fully human again. I then stretched out my hand over Evie; I could have used my ‘evapouration’ magic to rid of the tail as a whole, but with already half of her human side back. I couldn’t risk it as It could completely dry out her skin…and believe me she would kill me for even thinking of that.
So the next best thing to do was think of another is to fight off whatever is making Evie this way. I then licked my lips, well here goes nothing.
I half shut my eyes, as I was too afraid as to see of what will happen if I use my powers on my girlfriend who has already got half of her human for back. I just hope that I can turn her back fully human, that’s if she doesn’t kill me first. I could feel/see a blue wave of power washing over her, either I’m doing that or someone or something else is pulling the strings.

- Mimmi

As I was drawing out Evie’s Essence, I could feel of that something wasn’t right; as I bright flash of light emerged from the mermaid goop image. We all froze as we tried to shield our eyes from the light.
“What was that?” Sirena quizzed.
I lowered my hand as the bright light vanished.
“I don’t know.” I answered.
We looked into container to see the goop image of the mermaid as folded into itself and vanished into normal goop, but luck for us it hadn’t dissipated into water.
“How could it be nothing? Something must have happened?” Ondina burster.
I turned to her.
“Look, when I said I don’t know…then I don’t know.” I answered.
Ondina groaned as she took a step back and combed her fingers through her hair; sign of frustration no doubt.

-Evie

When I did finally un-squint my eyes, when Zac told me it was safe. I was hoping it to be all fixed; but not all I could see was my ‘human’ legs with short pair of jeans + my white ankle conservers shoes.
“At least I’ve got half of you back.” Zac admitted.
‘Yeah right….like half is gonna cut it.’ I thought.
I looked up at him in disgust.
“I don’t want to be half…fish, half person. That’s worse than being full fish.” I whined.
I could tell that Zac was going to say something to re-tort my complaint. But we froze as we heard a knock on the fridge door. The person on the other side knocked 3 times in a certain pattern.
Then we heard a voice.
“What’s going on in there?” the voice spoke up.
I knew that voice, Cam….lucky me.
“Stay here you can’t come int.” Zac ordered.
I looked up at him.
“You don’t have to be so rude to him.” I whispered.
Zac knelt down beside me.
“Well considering what he did 5 months ago…I say he more than deserves this treatment.” He whispered still keeping his evil eye on door.

“Why not?!” Cam exclaimed in a sort of whisper with a furious knock to follow.
“Just, don’t.” Zac retorted.
The knock was silent.
“Is it Cam?” I asked.
“Why not? He’s the only other human who knows about you now.” Zac said getting up onto his legs.
“Besides from you and those other mermaids?” I raised an eyebrow.
Zac didn’t answer me as with Cam on the other side of the door (probably on lookout)….and me still half-fish. There was no way of getting out of this unscaled.

-Mimmi

Going over the light flash the image of the mermaid folding into normal goop….it all made sense.
“Someone’s trying block the spell.” I concluded.
Ondina looked at the container.
“Evie?” Ondina suggested
I shook my head.
“No, she hasn’t had enough time to master her powers.” I explained.
We were all silent.
“Zac has.” Ondina spoke up again.
Of course, there’s no other merfolk on land that’s got powers other than Zac…but how he could counteract my spell? It’s a one of higher level, only mastered by those who’ve been trained in the Northern pod. If he’s never had any formal training with his powers; Then were did he obtain this much power?

From the 7th moon cycle – Mer
Whoa, this is the first time you’ve ever spoken up in a while – me
It has to be from the last moon cycle…I can feel his connection with this Evie girl. He must be with her.
How can you tell? I can’t feel or sense anything?
I have more experience and years of helping you to master your powers….and I’ve developed this 7th sense in magic. And I can tell he shares the same-…

My inner mer had vanished….almost like she was gonna tell me something about my missing-
“Fight him.” Ondina encouraged
I snapped back to the present time, I nodded to her suggestion…I placed my hands flat in front like pushing my hands against a giant clam. I then began to sway them in a circle.
‘If the boy wants to fight….then we’ll fight magic with magic.’ I thought

- Zac

Even though Evie was still half back to human, I figured the next best thing was to get her fully back. So I held out my hand over her body. But Evie flinched at the sight of my hand.
“Stop, you’ll make it worse.” She pleaded
I raised my hand in self-defence and turned to try and sit myself on a crater or something…to try and think about another way to resolve this and to figure out of whose pull the strings to make Evie like this.
As I turned I could see a bright flash from the corner of my eye. I looked back at Evie with horror. The Pink goop had somehow fully changed her into a mermaid and covers her from shoulder to tail tip in the goop.

I could only stand there with stone face, as seeing Evie trying to raise her head and seeing the new development. And I can say she didn’t like it as she let out a yell. I tried to shush her as the I looked to see the fridge door opening, I was going to rush to it and slam it in Cam’s face.
When he got in, his face was just as stone faced as mine.
“What have you done to her?!” Cam protested immediately suspecting me as I’ve been the only one in here with her.
“Hey it’s not Zac. “Evie defend me. “It’s those mermaids, the new ones.”
I cursed myself, so that’s what they were up to this morning… trying to make Evie the laughing stock of the whole Coast and expose that mermaids are real. And then of course all questions will be leading back to me…eventually.

- Mimmi

My hands were still waving, counteracting Zac’s presence from blocking the spell. But it now seemed easier as the magic of extracting Evie’s mermaid essence was drawing away from the now restored mermaid goop figure spinning around the container.
“What’s this doing to Evie?” Sirena spoke up.
“Restoring her back to normal.” Ondina explained not giving Sirena the acknowledgment of merely a glance.
“Then why is Zac blocking it?”
“Do you want her fixed or not?” Ondina snapped.
“There’s something wrong.” Sirena concluded as she turned tail and ran up the main steps for the main part of the grotto.
Ondina then made her to where Sirena was standing before and looked at me.
“You have done this with something other than fruit, right?” She asked.
I didn’t answer her as I guess my face and my expression gave the answer. She just sighed and rested her hands on the circular table.
“Great, just great….so you done something to her, other than changing her back?”
I groaned.
“Yes and no….yes to I have done the spell on something other than fruit; and no, to not doing this on ‘live’ creatures.” I admitted.
Ondina again rummaged her fingers through her hair.
“Great…why didn’t you say anything before?” Ondina groaned staring right at me.
I couldn’t answer as I was tongue tied….all I could think to what my mer said to me, I share something in common with either something or….better yet someone else.
“Now hang on a sec….why don’t we re-try the spell? The goop hasn’t sunk into the water yet.” I pointed out.
“Meaning?!” crossing her arms.
“Meaning the spell is still taking effect on her powers; so we still have a very good chance of removing.” I stated trying to gain her confidence.
Ondina still looked at me with a stone face.
“Please, Ondina I can do this….trust me.” I pleaded clapping my hands together praying for another chance.
Ondina then rolled her eyes as she already knew that I was the most powerful mermaid on land…and I do have the capability to remove Evie’s mermaid powers.
“Fine…and Mimmi?” she sighed.
“Yeah.” I looked up at her as I ready to restart the spell.
Ondina smiled.
“Next time you don’t have the ability to do spells…speak out, and we’ll work on it together (Ondina smiled) you’re not alone on this adventure.” She stated.
I looked at her with my face ready; truly she is my best friend.
“Thanks… (mentally shook my head and slapped my cheeks….rearing to give this spell another try) okay rearing to go, captain.” I stated with a cheeky smile.
Ondina smirked.
“See, now you have a sense of humour.” She teased. “Okay, fire away number 2.”
I laughed.
“Since when am I number 2?” I quizzed.
“Since I’m your best friend…but we could be equal numbers, as no 2 friends are different.” She answered as she walked to my side of the table and hugged my shoulders.
I leant into her embrace; briefly….as I then smiled to myself and then raised my hands to the container.
‘my friend trusts me…that give me more confidence than any other power a mermaid could or will ever get.’ I thought. ‘So I’ll be every ounce of effect into breaking Evie’s curse of Mako.’

- Evie

Time passed and no matter how much Zac and Cam argued over whose fault it was, it seemed to grow from bad to worse.
“What’s happening to me?” I quizzed in a panic. “The mermaids said they’ll gonna fix me.”
“If that’s what there trying, its defiantly not working.” Zac summed up
‘No duh….if it was working I would be a normal human being.’ I thought.
Zac then looked around I guess figuring out a plan.
“Cam go outside and make sure no one comes in.” Zac ordered.
“While you stay here and do what?!” Cam raised an eyebrow.
“Just guard the door, please.” Zac snapped.
Cam then looked down at me.
‘Do as he say’s…he knows what he’s doing.’ I told him with my eyes.
Cam sighed.
“Just so you know, I’m doing this for Evie.” He stated coldly as he turned and headed out the door.

“Seriously?! Zac and I thought you told me that you were over this façade?” I quizzed.
“Well clearly, not.” Zac huffed. “We need another plan.”
Zac then sat leaned himself against the bench behind him and put his finger to his chin.
‘Great, thinking….like that’s gonna get me out of this.’ I thought as my hopes of the mermaids making good on their words is clearly dashed.
“Got anything?” I quizzed after 10 secs of silence.
Zac looked down at me, I guess hoping this would evaporate like….clearly water he was in the wrong of this. I leaned my head back on the cold ground of the fridge. I was a dead girl walking, if someone walks in.

“Where’s Evie?” I heard another voice.
I nodded my head towards the door.
“There’s someone else out there.” I whispered.
Zac looked up from his thinking; not good….that could be anyone. Zac then got up from his thinking stage and knelt down beside my shoulder’s.
“If worse comes to worse…I’ll turn us invisible.” Zac whispered.
I looked up to him.
“Can you do that? Can I do that?” I quizzed.
He smirked.
“Yeah, with practise and a bit of help from me.” Zac smirked.
I seriously felt like punching him.
“What have you done to her?” Cam’s voice said.
“She’s in there isn’t she?” the voice came again.
“Sorry, that’s off limit’s, especially to you.” Cam stood his ground to whoever was out there.
“If you don’t step out of my way, I’ll turn you into sandwich tuna.” The voice threated.
Then everything when silent.

Just then the fridge door opened, not to the face of Cam…but to Sirena.
Zac then got up from my shoulder and walked over to greet Sirena.
“Did you do this?” Zac asked the obvious question.
Sirena looked at me.
“Of course not….Mimmi’s in Rita’s grotto casting a spell.” Sirena explained quickly. “It’s supposed to turn Evie back.”
‘Really?! I knew Mimmi touching my arms felt weird…like a bit of spirit or soul was coming out as well,’ I thought.
Zac jestered towards me.
“Well it’s clearly not working…I’m going over there to stop them.” Zac announced jestering I guess for me to
‘Stay of put’…but then realising of being stuck under a pile of pink goop; so he didn’t continue as he rushed out of the fridge closing the door behind them.
I seriously hope this plan he has (if he even has one) will work and prevent anyone else from finding out about my fish tail.

Sirena walked up to me and knelt beside me.
“Believe me when I say this, but Zac has a lot more power than you think. And he won’t let you down.” Sirena smiled.
‘That’s comforting.’ I thought
I then leant my head back onto the fridge floor groaning and sighing
‘He better have a plan….or else.’ I thought as I do really mean the ‘or else’ part to. ‘So you better not mess this up.’
told you i'll try and get the next chapter up as soon as possible.
