With my early morning stop over to Mako and with the talking of Cam down via the beach…and actually me not really relaxing at the café (as I’d hopped), as I was wondering around down town in deep thought about Mako Island….and I completely lost track of time and had to make a running dash towards the café.
“Sorry, I’m late.” I apologies as I burst into the door.
“Should get an alarm clock.” David stated as I saw him stacking what looked like packaged food into a Styrofoam box.
“Next pay day, promise.” I promised strolling up to him as I activate my shift time on the register to time my arrival time.
“Would you mind holding the fort, I need to take this delivery to Miss Santos.” David ordered me in a nice way.
I took a glance into the Styrofoam box; it was all prawns, crayfish, etc…like almost every edible sea food stuffed into one box.
“That’s a lot of seafood.” I commented with my mouth dropped open.
“She’s got those girls living with her.” David explained as he finished boxing over by placing the lid on top. “Sirena and her cousins.”
That struck a chord with me, now it all makes sense….there not just friends; they’re working together, but what could be there cause of coming on land?
“Ondina and Mimmi?” I question as I happened to overhearing their names when I was taking Zac’s order 2 days ago.
David nodded. “They like they’re seafood.” He pointed out.
Now this got me really thinking in that split second, I could finally get some solid answers out of those girls about Mako Island. So in my mind I concocted the right excuse to see the girls in person.
“Why don’t I take it up?” I quickly volunteered.
“It’s okay.” He rebuffed as he began picking up the box. “I’ve gotta talk about rehearsing with Sirena.”
“But there a back-log of orders and you’re the fastest juicer.” I quickly reasoned (as I did overlook the register before to see the truth). “It’ll be easier if I go.”
Whilst saying this I gently tore the box out of his hand, into my own as I made my way out of the café and heading towards Rita’s house.

When heading out the door I bumped into Evie as she was coming in to start, I scooted out of the way so she could get in…I was full of confidence; but not for much longer (as being the new kid on the block…I hardly knew any locations besides: my apartment (as my foster parent gave me some money before moving to support me), work and the beach). So I then backtracked towards the café.
“Ah, which way to Miss Santos’s house?” I asked with a nervous laugh.
Dave sighed as he rolled his eyes.
“Seriously?” he raised an eyebrow.
“Sorry, being new….I rushed in too fast.” I apologized. “But by tomorrow I promise to try and remember our delivery customer’s addresses.”
“Fine, I’ll hold you accountable if this order goes bad.” He teased.
“Okay, deal.”
David them smirked as he ripped out a piece of paper and wrote down with the pen he had in hand the address and gave me the personal direction + shortcut.
I thanked him as I had the paper on top of the box as I re-exited the café….now heading in the right direction towards Miss Santos house

Though I’ll have to admit that I did get lost a bit, but a kind woman (after asking) pointed me in the right direction as her house was right off from uphill of a local beach (not the one nearing the café) walkway.
I trudged up the grassy hill as saw her house, it was defiantly impressive: a pure white house like those one you see in Greece (and yes I’ve been there a couple of times…but not the usual way people go), a two-stories with a clear-cut right into the hill side and beyond as I couldn’t see the other side….it must have a secret buried near there.
But I then shook my head, no can’t get distracted…David will really lay into me if this seafood goes off (and yes it does have a time limit…before this really goes off). So I walked around the side of the house, seeing a stone laid pathway leading to a side of the house…but concrete path towards the front door.
I then rang the doorbell once, then back up and waiting for someone to answer the door.
And I can say after about 3-5mins of waiting, then finally the front door slowly opened, I turned to greet the person who’d answered…it turned out to be the girl from that I was not expecting, as I hear her before hurrying down the front steps towards the door at a quicken pace.
“Hello Dav-…” she greeted with door with a chirp in her voice, but I guessed her voice died down when she laid eyes on me, not the one she was expecting. “You’re not David.”
“Ah, were slammed at the café so he asked me to come instead.” I quickly explained even though that was an out-white lie….sort of.
The girl at the door lowered her head in a sigh.
“Is Ondina home?” I got straight to the point of me coming instead of David.
But the girl scrunched up her face.
“Ondina?” she quizzed.
“…She lives here, too doesn’t she?” I quizzed her slowly.
“..She does?” she laughed a bit.
I laughed a bit too. “Wouldn’t you know?”
“I suppose I should.”
“I just wanted a word with her.” I politely asked
She nodded pretty quickly as then she shut the door in my face “Let me get back to you on that.”
With me still carrying the box of frozen seafood and within about to go off in the next 10-20 mins. But then quickly opened the door again to grab the box out of my hands and inside before closing the door again; leaving me out in the heat, not even offering for me to come inside….what rude little sod’s, but of course that typical of their kind towards my kind; not basing me on being a land-boy.

- Mimmi

Sirena came bursting into the grotto with a white box, placing it on the middle table of the grotto, I stood back a few steps and investigated the box before approaching it.
“What is this?” I asked.
Sirena groaned.
“Huh, it’s full of seafood, for us and Rita.” She answered in a panicked-huffy tone.
I raised an eyebrow.
“Land-people at the café, delivery seafood for Rita every week….but this time with adding 3 more, she’s had to order a larger order of seafood.” She explained pacing on the floor.
I shrugged my shoulder as I lifted the lid, I turned the lid as well….as I’ve never seen this type of material before, it has a bubbly type of texture, but yet it’s smooth like river stones. I continued to investigate the lid until I caught a glimpse into what was in the box, to which this made my eyes widen and drop the lid on the table.
I dived for the contents, picking out each kind of seafood; whilst doing this I caught on to the reasons of why Sirena is not herself (the calm and collective type)
“Ondina….you may not like this….” She began pacing around.
This spike up her attention towards Sirena.
“What….what is it? ….Sirena serious you really know of how to make a mermaid sweat.” She also was going panic mode.
“You know that person you said who’d found you on Mako island yesterday?”
“Yeah? What about it?”
“He’s….he’s waiting outside….for you.” She sighed.
The really made Ondina’s hairs stand on end, like it really made her blood boil. And it still didn’t make any sense since he only saw her once (twice, if u count the first day we came on land….or they’re could be more she’s not telling).
“Why? Why is he there?” she exploded.
She looked to me as I shrugged my shoulder and then she looked to Sirena who just smirked.
“It could be he has a crush on you.” She spoke up.
“A…A what?!” she exclaimed.
Sirena sighed as she shuffled her hands together.
“It’s when a guy or in this case a land-boy, has a thing for a girl or in this case a mermaid….or in other word he might be in love with you.” She explained slowly.
I dropped the food container in my hand….then burst out in laughter.

Ondina’s face then brighten to a red like a red starfish.
“Wha-what’s so funny?!” she exclaimed.
I looked to her still laughing.
“S-sorry.” I started still giggling. “It’s, just hard to imagine, anyone falling in love with you.”
Ondina’s face flushed.
“Th-That’s not true.” She protested strolling up to me.
I was still on the edge of the table investigating the delivery that Sirena had taken at the front door.
“Oh really.”  I smirked and then lowered what I had in my hand back into the box. “Well let’s do a head count here, shall we? So how many friends have you made? ….right, only me.”
“That’s because you didn’t have any friends in the Northern Pod.” She spoke up.
I stood up to here.
“How dare you?! I was only there because my mother-!” I began to snap
Sirena then came in-between us.
“Right….let’s all came down before we do something we won’t want anyone else to see.” She said in a calming tone.

I huffed as I sat back down on the edge of the table; Ondina face away from me….as se looked back to Sirena.
“So what d-did the land-boy said he wanted?” she asked brushed a strand of hair behind her ear.
“He didn’t say much, he just wanted to talk to you.” She summed up.
“But…I can’t he’s just a distraction I can’t afford to take on.” She flustered. “He’s not the main priority of our reason on coming to land.”
Then I saw Sirena twisting with a bit of her hair.
“But…but I already told him you were here.” She said slowly with a a hint of red showing in her cheeks.
Ondina looked Sirena dead in the eye as her eyes widened.
“Wh-what….why did you do that?” she protested.
“Sorry…my mouth ran off, I wasn’t thinking.” She apologies.
“Why didn’t you even tell him I wasn’t here?” Ondina began to pace.
“Well you are here.” She answered.
“He doesn’t need to know that.” She faces Sirena flicking her hair.
“I can’t lie to him.”
“Why not?” she protested. “it’s not like he matters.”

This was getting us nowhere.
“I don’t think that lying to Erik is a god idea.” I spoke up re-lidding the box with the seafood. “He did find you on Mako; maybe he saw something else?” I suggested admiring a fresh prawn I took from the box.
“There wasn’t anything else to see.” Ondina protested again.
I shrugged my shoulders as I took a bite into the prawn (in which, may I point out is a Tasmanian Tiger Prawn….saw it on the container label, very juicy)
“We don’t want to make him suspicious.” I said in-between chews. “Find out what he wants.”
There again was silence to the sound on me chewing away at my prawn, as I looked up to see Sirena nod to my suggestion. Ondina rolled her eyes as I took another bite into my prawn.
“These are actually really good.” I exclaimed.
Ondina loudly groaned.
“Seriously?! Not helping.” She groaned. “Do I have to do this?”
Sirena sighed.
“Yes, since he did find you on Mako…the least you could do is get some information out of him.” She explained.
Ondina rolled her head and eyes as she bounced up the stairs heading out to the main house.

Sirena then just look at me.
“Really helping much.” She folded her arms.
“What?” I protested as I’d just finished off my prawn.
“Were in the middle of a crisis and all you can think about it the food in front of you?” she exclaimed.
I raised my hands in surrender.
“Hey, food 1st crisis 2nd…that’s how the Mimmister rolls.”
“The Mimmister…where did you get that from?” Sirena raised an eyebrow.
“While out on the beach this morning, I’d heard a land-boy call his skills after his name….and ended it with the ‘ister’; so I thought that would be cool to add to my name, as my skill coming up with suggestion’s.” I explained.
Sirena sighed as she then scoped up the box of seafood into her arms.
“Hey, mine.” I protested.
“This is for all of us, Mimmi…we share in this house, and nothing is owned by us, as Rita paid for this by herself.” She explained as she began to walk away.
I groaned as I saw her carrying the box upstairs to the main house…I grumbled.

But this latest turn of that the boy from the island-café has followed us here….does he know of us? The real us? Or is there something more going on?

-Erik

Waiting outside with my arms folded over my chest, it was boring as….all I could do was pace the concrete floor and heavily sighs.
That was until I hear the front door re-opening again. I then lowered my hands into my pockets of my shorts.
“Hi.” I started turning to see Ondina at the door.
“Uh, hi.” She answered back as she came out the door to right in front of me.
“David tells me your Sirena’s cousin?” I immediately began the questioning.
“Were related…what do you want?” she answered immediately trying to shift me out of the way, which means she has something to hide.
“...I thought we could talk.” I answered as honestly as I could.
Ondina shrugged her shoulders.
“About what?” she asked.
“…Mako.” I brought up the topic of choice.
Ondina was silent for about 10 seconds.
“What about Mako?”
“…Well, it was pretty weird how I found you.” I stated.
Ondina bit her lips in thought.
“Was it?”
“And then there was that flash of light.” I re-called off when I found her.
“I didn’t see anything.” She denied….that does make sense since when I found her she looked like to be asleep.
I dry laughed as I licked my lips. “Are you always like this?”
“Like what?” she slightly snapped.
I got the picture; her kind doesn’t answer to mine….so I’ll just have to get the answer some other way.
“Okay, if you wanna play it that…but I’m gonna find out what’s going on.” I stated as i turned to leave as I strolled out of the house grounds with my hands still in my pocket.

She’s follow me, that’s if she doesn’t want me to find out about the mysteries of Mako island….or how I managed to find her on the island sleeping in the jungle.
“Wait.” I heard her voice and her footsteps as she ran after me, like I knew she would.
I smirked, she’s a sucker when it comes to land-people knowing more than are letting on.
I was half-way down the hill when she caught up with me.
“There’s nothing going on, really.” She reasoned.
‘Right, the instant I menched about Mako, she completely changed her mode of conversation.’ I thought.
“Doesn’t it feel good to stretch your legs.” I changed the topic having fished my hands out of my pockets as I swung them by my side.
“…Why, what’s wrong with my legs?” she quizzed, clearly trying to hide her innersole.
We stopped for a moment as I looked down at her ‘leg’s’.
“Nothing, you’ve got great legs.” I smirked as I then continued walking on down the hill. “Yes, very practical things legs…something we have in common.”
Silence hung in the air until we reached the bottom of the hill.
“What were you doing on Mako.” She asked the obvious question.
“Sightseeing, same as you, right?” I looked to her. “Guess it’s something else we have in common.”
“We have nothing in common.” She protested.
I smirked a dry laugh.
“You really like to argue, don’t you?” I stated.
“Stop being annoying and I won’t.” She protested again.
I took a step closer to her.
“I’d knew you’ll like me.” I smirked as then I walked on.
‘Come on, follow…you know I know something that you don’t.’ I sung in my head sweetly as I kept on walking down the side of the hill heading toward just nearing a private peer.

“What could I possibly like about you?” Ondina spoke up after catching up with me.
“Well, as I said before we like to walk and sightseeing on Mako.” I fingered off my answer.
Ondina snorted.
“Yeah right.”
“Oh, but we do.” I looked to her, and then lowered my volume. “Much more than you think…but in a nice way.”

-Zac

Relaxing in my room with my IPod playing on loud music, having  a bit of shut eye since this morning’s drama….i really needed to relax, so when I did get home after meeting up with Evie; and yes I did swim home. I just dried myself off, laid down face first into my couch, lazily reached over on my coffee table to grab my IPod, flipped over to my back and just laid there listening to my music all shuffled.
I think I listened to my music for at least a good, about an hour and a bit, before my earphone were yanked out of my ears, I was a but star struck as i looked up to see the perpritrator….at first I thought it could be my mum as given the state of my room, I wouldn’t blame her for taking my IPod off me; but no, saw Evie with my earphones in hand, still with my music ringing out.
“Let’s do this.” Was the first thing to come out of her mouth.
I tilted my head sideways.
“What?” I asked innocently.
“The tail thing…” she answered
I tilted my head even more.
“I want to know what it’s like.” She brightened up.
“Really? ...” I quizzed as she was totally against the idea this morning, I guess my words much of really struck her.

That or the fact that you dove into the Marine, showing off your tail for the whole town to see – Mer
Really? The first thing I hear out of your mouth since yesterday is my performance at the Marina….you couldn’t have maybe spoken up earlier – Human
Dream on….beside, out hanging out with Evie in Mer form; of that’s a match made for the oceans.
I hope so, even though at first she was totally against the idea of being a half-breed like me.
Nah, hey given time you had grown really attached to your powers…then a few months ago and was willing to give them up as well so that those girls could have their pod come home to Mako. What I still don’t get is why you aren’t willing to now?
Long story…but if you want the short version, during that time spending with the mermaids, proved that being unique and having a tail is not the end of the world, just the starting of a new opening.
*sigh* Mate, you’ve really grown just like your-

“…Yeah, let’s go.” I exclaimed as I swung myself up grabbing her hand and walking towards the door. “This is gonna be awesome.
But then a knock came at the door, me and Evie froze…as the door opened without me inviting them to come in, my parents decided to slide in with suppose beaming smiles on their faces.
“Hello kids.” My dad started. “We’re heading off to the club to have some lunch, wanna come?”
I looked at Evie; he really knows how to spoil a moment in a perfect time.
“We were just on our way out.” I answered truthfully.
“Where to?” mum piped in.
We paused for a moment.
“Swimming.” I began at the same time as Evie.
“The café.” Evie spoke up louder.
I turned to her; we had said completely different stories of locations….there were definite silence in the air as with us trying to get our story straight.
“So which is it?” Dad broke the silence.
Again silence hung in the air, as this would have to be Evie’s first of many white lies….so I may as well let her take the lead on this on.
“Ah…were gonna go swimming, and then were going to the café.” She explained I a calm manner.
“Yeah, Sirena is singing and…were gonna meet up with some friends.” I backed her up.
“We hardly see you anymore.” Mum sighed and then turned to dad. “Maybe, we should go swimming with them.”
Okay, BIG alarms were going off in my head…excuse, excuse now.
“I think, dad’s hungry.” I casually suggested as I did before hear his tummy rumble.
Mum turned to dad as I smirked a guilty smile, mum smirked back knowing my dad…he’d not like anything to stand between him and his food. So they turned and left us be.
“Have fun, kids.” Dad teased.
I plastered on a fake smile, as I saw my parents leave my room, once they did leave and closed the door behind them. I gave a heavy sigh.
“Finally.” I stated.

Mate, you should of said that was close, way too close – Mer
Here’s to that….but hey at least were still on track for me and Evie to swim together – Human
Amen to that….have fun you to.
We will Mer and thanks.
For what?
…Nothing, just thanks.
Whatever.

I then turned back to Evie as I took her by the hand and lead her outside.
“You’re so gonna love this.” I smirked.
I let Evie out first before me following after, really closing the door behind us.
“Are you sure your parents won’t mind?” Evie asked facing back to me as I stepped off the mini porch.
I shook my head.
“Nah, my parents usually know where I’m going, most of the time.” I smirked.
Then I firmly grasped her hand as I lead her across the grass field and towards the jetty. When we hit the edge we dived in feet first, waited for our tail’s to appear and then torpedoed all the way to Mako…to where I could finally convince Evie of the amazement of her new powers.
I hope…

When we reached down to the docks, all I could see was an old man in fisher’s gear to the side (who from the looks of things was just back from a fishing trip and washing down his gear) and his boat parked also at the docks. Also the dock had a one-exit-one-entrance type of door, marking the separation between like land and sea. We were walking along the backside of the dock, then walked along the walk way to the main part of the dock (you could tell it had seen a couple of heavy and high tides as with the amount of moss covering the planks and then creaking of the boards under our feet pressure) and of course Ondina was continuing to deny our connection….in which I can say is true, we do have a connection…much ‘deeper’ than she thinks or I’m letting her to think.
“I wanna make this perfectly clear.” She spoke up our awkward silence after reaching the peer. “I am not interested in you.”
“I get that.” I stated with honesty.
“Good, I didn’t want there to be any misunderstanding.”
“There’s no misunderstanding, were just two people out on a walk together.” I stated, though this is truth, in a sense.
“Were not together.” She protested.
“Right, were just two people who’d just happening to be walking in the same direction, at the same time.” I corrected myself with a tease.
We continued more onto the dock, begging a right-angle turn towards the old-man who was still scrubbing down his fishing gear.

“Why were you on Mako?” Ondina broke the silence.
I stopped in my tracks as I turned to face her.
“Same reason as you, sightseeing…wasn’t it?” I answered as I shoved my hands into my pockets.
“We were just looking around.” She protested clearly trying to hide her real reasoning.
I laughed a very dry laugh.
“You don’t have to play that game with me; I…know you’re special.” I confessed.
Ondina sightly shook her head.
“You don’t know me at all.” She protested again.
“I do, Ondina.” I spoke up with very fond of truth. “I really do.”
I could hear the splashing water into a bucket in the background…
“…That’s it were done.” She gave me the stone cold look as she was about to walk away. “And another thing…”
Before she could say anything else, a sudden surge of water spray hit her square on the face; she tried to cover her face….but the water was gushing out in shower, I could see her stone face as she backed up….i turned to see the source was the old man as I could see him grabbing another piece of equipment to wash down with water, like he didn’t even care who he’d wet.
I turned back to Ondina, her backing up cause of the water spray had pushed her back to the edge section were on the dock. She was falling off the edge of the dock.
“Ondina!” I shouted her name as I tried to rush to her aid. “Ondina.”
I shouted her name again and rushed over to the side where she had fallen; but when I got there: it wasn’t the land-girl I knew….she-she had an orange fish tail flapping up-and-down on a little dingy….that happened to be tied up underneath where’s she fallen off the dock.
Ondina looked up at me as I could on stare at her fish tail with opened eyes and mouth.

“Hey…what are you doing?” the old man spoke up (it couldn’t of been anyone else since he is the only other person on the dock, that could of seen anything).
I turned back to him, quickly back to see the scared face of Ondina as her eyes plead either with ‘help me’ or ‘you did not see what I think you saw’.
“It’s nothing, nothing….it’s all good.” I walked towards him, trying calm down his suspicions of what I’d just witnessed.
When I’d dismissed the events, he then crouched back down….and resumed of what he was doing earlier. I quickly went back to see how Ondina was doing….but she’d vanished, all I could hear was a splashing noise; I tried to search for her….but then I could see her tail fin flicking as she deepened herself underwater.
Not surprising, considering of what’s think’s has happened…. ‘A land-person has seen a mermaid.’

Why am I not surprised as normal people would be? ….well I can only say that I’m not like most ‘normal’ people, especially land-people. But this did confirm my suspicious about her being mermaid; my real question was of why are they here on land? Are they exploring the above world…or are they after someone or something?
SO SORRY FOR IT BEING A WHILE OF WAITINGHold me... I'm scared. ....as with a bit of a writer's block and the starting of this semester back at TAFE (college)

I hope I've written it right and convey everything thought and feelings of the character's:scared: ...i just hope this can attract the attention of the executive producer of Mako Mermaids, so i could work together with him to publish this work...offically :D
